Smart, fintech retirement product

A financial services startup, Smart was exploring a new proposition aimed at providing guidance for people approaching retirement age. To help validate this proposition, as part of UX team I have moderated and facilitated discovery workshops, conducted research, wireframing and visual design for the new product. The goal was to create a compelling retirement planning service that motivates other pension providers to want to offer it to their customers.

Process

I was part of discovery process to determine product viability and suitability in the current financial climate. I participated in the workshops, user research, user interviews, prototype testing and final designs.

1. Workshops

Facilitated and moderated concept workshops to define, validate and visualise our product features, feasibility as well as identify potential pain points and weaknesses.

2. Competitor analysis

Looking at fin-tech market, challengers and existing colour palletes and branding language.

3. Early design concepts

Together with a few team members, we dedicated couple of weeks to create as many visual concepts as possible to share with stakeholders and get early opinions.

4. Prototyping

Getting the prototype ready and clickable to ensure it can be used for real user research testing.

5. Testing in User Research Lab

The next step in the process was to prepare prototype for user testing and test the journeys, experience and overall impressions.

6. Creating Design System

Once the first MVP release was launched, the growing product features will require consistent design system to ensure that brand is carried across different mediums and platforms correctly.
